A DC Comics Extravaganza!

By: Michael Worthan & Mark Patton

Well this is new as of a few ago, it looks like DC Comics has once again re-branded itself with a fancy logo. It will debut on the new Dc Comics Rebirth books and they will officially start using it on May 25th. Tell me what you think about it.

Well as time moves on it seems that speculation has started swirling about all four, this includes the newly moved Supergirl, CW shows and who will be in them, what will change, and what adversity will our heroes face this time around. Word on the street, the street being everywhere else on the internet, is that Supergirl may have to tone down some of the graphics as it’s pricey, but when you look at what Berlanti and company have been able to do with the Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow it kind of feels like Supergirl will fit right in, just maybe a few shifts will have to be made aflts111tonally in Supergirl. We have indeed heard the Captain Cold himself, Wentworth Miller, will be stepping away as a series regular for Legends, but it’s not the last we’ve seen of him as it is said he may very well pop up again back up in the Flash. Speaking of the Flash speculation is running wild with Wally and Jessie both being hit by the lightening off of the particle accelerator, will they both become speedsters? Will we get a Wally West Flash? It seems they may be hinting towards it.  Needless to say for all four DC shows it will definitely be an interesting new year to see how they bring them all together without it being too cluttered.

Sticking with the DC theme that seems to be what I want to write about today I’d like to take a quick minute and just send my late condolences and honest to goodness adulation to the late Darwyn Cooke and his family. New Frontier is not only one of my favorite DC books, but how they brought it to DC Animated Feature took nothing away from what he drew, and the story that was told. I am saddened to see another legend in the industry grow, but hope that young comic enthusiasts look at his work with awe and know that at one time a giant walked among us.

From One To Another!

Well it has been another stellar day for news and content! Supergirl has been on hiatus for a few now as CBS didn’t know if it wanted to re-new the show. It started off pretty strong, but tapered to something like 2.6 million views a show, and at the cost of each episode, the pilot cost 14 million dollars alone, and the cost of filming in Los Angeles CBS just didn’t want to take that gamble. So what happened you ask, was it cancelled? No dear fan it was moved from CBS to it’s sister station the CW, that’s right the house that Arrow built, which features the Flash and Legends of Tomorrow as pillars of what has become a channel for DC superheroes. If Supergirl brings her fanbase there is a shot she dethrones the Flash as the highest rated show on the CW. So welcome Supergirl everyone, and if you didn’t watch Season 1 do so now because I guarantee there will be some more crossovers now that she’s home.

Now onto video game into movie news “Assassin’s Creed: The Movie” starring Michael Fassbender has released its very first trailer via the Jimmy Kimmel show last fassbender-assassins-creednight. There are a few liberties that I can see in the trailer that have been taken, the biggest is the Animus was basically a VR bed and here it’s a ton more activity then anyone should have to do while re-living someone else’s life. I guess it makes sense though because panning from action sequence to Fassbender laying in a compy recline with something on his face wouldn’t exactly make for thrilling action sequences. Being a huge fan of the games I really hope they do them justice. If you haven’t seen the full trailer here it is:

Alright folks that’s all for now, as always share, comment, but never hate!

Armada: A Late Ass Review

By: Michael Worthan

Okay, so I’m pretty late to the game here, and for the most part that’s my fault. I am a huge fan of books, so much so I have a stack of then just waiting to be read, and so one after another I devour them and love every minute of it. Problem is keeping track of my favorite authors books and them finding the proper time to fit them into what is an already busy schedule. So my sincerest apologies Mr. Cline, also if you’re reading message me on Twitter @notsosilentmike and I’ll gladly interview you or just shoot the breeze with you about nerd things.

So this is going to be a far from usual review as I am doing this right after reading Armada (read it, buy it, love it!) and I’m writing this with the glee of a five year old who just found where all of the Halloween candy is being hidden. Armada was amazing, from the very beginning you’re pulled into Zack Lightman’s world. The depth and beauty with which things are explained, but not overly so which allows you, dear reader, the ability to throw your own bit of allows twist on some stuff. The nerdy mentions, the gaming jargon, the stories of the characters, all of these were set to create a rich universe that I could see myself in.

To conclude what is basically me gushing about this book I highly recommend it. As always share, comment, but never hate!

Civil_War_Final_PosterIn other news Captain America: Civil War is out this week, has been out in other places for a little bit, and for all intents and purposes it is getting very good reviews. I haven’t seen a really bad thing about it so I am excited to see it this weekend and maybe do a quick review later on, maybe.

In Power Rangers news we have seen through some leaked pics a second costume for Elizabeth Banks Rita Repulsa as well as Entertainment Weekly posted a picture of the new Power Rangers costumes.

Not my picture, credit where credut us due!

The costumes look a lot more armored, slightly reminiscent of ye olde’ Power Rangers movie of my childhood, but my assumption with CGI and all the money they will pour into the effects all the costumes will look a bit different come 2017 when the movie comes out. What do you think about the costumes? The re-emergence of Power Rangers back into pop culture? Are you gonna watch it? Let me know in the comments. As always comment, share, but never hate!
